The new golf rules and etiquette to “Play Safe & Stay Safe”

 

We are pleased to announce that our Golf Course, Golf Shop & Driving Range will open from Monday 18th May 2020

The following measures will be introduced at The Dorset Golf & Country Club as of Monday 18th May when the club is able to re-open safely. Please note that these are based on current guidance outlined by R&A, PGA, GCMA and England Golf however due to the fluidity of the situation these are subject to change.
Please note that in addition to the below, all staff have been given the necessary PPE equipment and similarly to before we closed, an enhanced cleaning regime will be put in place and monitored regularly. The golf shop and all public areas will also be thoroughly deep cleaned prior to re-opening.

We will be open for Members Only on Monday 18th May 2020

We will be accepting Visitors from Monday 25th May 2020
(limited numbers and time restrictions will apply)

To access the course, a player must

  • Be an active member or pay respective visitor/guest fee
  • Not have been out of the country for over 14 days
  • Not be in self-isolation
  • Not be displaying COVID-19 symptoms
  • Have a pre-booked tee time
  • Members may book up to 9 Days in advance
  • Visitors may book up to 5 Days in advance

Any player that falls outside of the criteria above or found not to be adhering to any of the rules communicated below will be asked to leave the course immediately. The following rules are in place for the safety of our members and our staff.

Course set up

  • All rakes to be removed – please smooth over the sand with your foot. Temporary local rule of preferred lies in bunkers (6 inches no nearer the hole the ball may be placed)
  • Ball washers and bins have been removed/covered
  • Benches have been removed
  • Flagsticks will remain
  • Putting green/chipping green flags to be removed and cups inverted

Before the round

  • Tee time intervals remain 8 minutes
  • First tee time daily of 7:08am on all Courses, all Golfers must be off the Course regardless by 9:00pm each day. The main access tunnel will be locked promptly at 9.00pm
  • Tee times MUST be booked in advance. Golfers without pre-booked tee times will be refused access to the golf course. You may only book a single tee time for yourself when booking.
  • Out of courtesy to other golfers, please cancel any unwanted tee times. No show/late cancellation penalties will apply
  • Please arrive no more than 20 minutes prior to your tee time (unless using other facilities) i.e. driving range
  • Visitors must report to the Proshop to check in for your tee time (members give a wave)
  • Clubhouse and locker rooms will be closed. Golfers are reminded to therefore change at home or in the car park
  • Golf shop and toilet facilities will be open for use. Takeaway food and beverage options will NOT be available. Golfers are requested to wash their hands thoroughly with the sanitiser provided before play and before entering the golf shop
  • Hand sanitiser/hand wash will be available in all public areas
  • All doors will be propped open where possible
  • Maximum of 2 golfers in the golf shop at any given time. Queue on the Golf Course side where indicated for the shop and ensure social distancing guidelines are being strictly adhered to.
  • We request that any payments are made by card. Card machine will be wiped down thoroughly by staff between uses
  • Social distancing guidelines to be observed on putting and chipping greens – priority to be given to the next group due to tee off
  • Only 6 persons are permitted on the Putting Green at any one time
  • Arrive at the tee no more than 10 minutes prior to your designated tee time
  • Please follow staff instructions at all times and stick to your designated starting time

During the round

  • Golfers must stay more than 2 metres apart at all times when playing the golf course
  • Do not touch or pick up stray golf balls or broken tee’s
  • Players must not pick up another player’s golf ball or golf equipment
  • Flagstick must remain in the hole at all times – hole insert used to allow easy collection of your ball by hand
  • If applicable, once hole is completed please hold back and wait for the group ahead to tee off before approaching the teeing area. No queuing on the tee’s.
  • Food, drink and clubs must not be shared between players
  • Please do not high five or shake hands with your playing partners

After the round

  • Golfers are encouraged to leave the facility immediately after their round. No congregations of any kind are permitted
  • If you experience any post round health issues, please call or email the club as soon as possible
  • All players must sanitise their hands on leaving the course

Driving Range: OPEN to Members and Public

8am to 7pm (7 Days a week)

  • ALL bays will be open for use due to our layout and bay size
  • Range balls will be washed with a solution before dispensing, we still recommend however that you do not touch the balls and use your club to manoeuvre them.
  • Tokens to be purchased and collected from the golf shop
  • Tee’s will be placed in the mats and must not be touched
  • All range baskets will be thoroughly sanitised in between use
  • Follow the one way system as indicated on the driving range
  • Place basket in sanitiser bin on exiting the range area
  • If all the bays are full continue and exit using the one way system and queue at the entrance to wait for a bay. Ensure social distancing guidelines are being strictly adhered to
  • Follow ALL guidance and signage displayed for safe use the Driving Range

Hire Items

Whilst limited hire equipment will be available under strict sanitizing practices, if you are able to do so, we recommend that you bring your own

  • Limited golf buggies are available however these are for single rider use only. They will be sanitised by our staff after use.
  • Pull and electric trolleys will be available to hire from the golf shop and will have a station available for you to sanitized before use
  • Disinfectant wipes/spray will also be available for golfers to wipe down hire equipment before use
